A decade after Pussy Galore’s intentionally atrocious debut EP, Jon Spencer is enjoying a certain MTV vogue with his Blues Explosion and the current incarnation of Boss Hog. The latter quartet’s new self-titled disc is heavy on experimental-garage snarl, sarcastic vamps (like a cover of Ike Turner’s “I Idolize You”), and Cristina Martinez’s alternatively spat-out and snotty vocals. In performance, expect the Hog to expand its bluesy dissonance to wall-of-sound proportions—this is a band for those who like their art noisy or their noise arty. With the Oblivians and B Benders at 8 p.m. at the 9:30 Club, 930 F St. NW. $10. (202) 393-0930. (Nathalie op de Beeck)
