The members of Burke, Va.’s Poole are no strangers to the local indie-rock scene; Harry Evans, guitarist and singer, is one of a long list of D.C. popsters who can claim to have been a member of the Lilys (he was on drums). Since that band’s breakup, Evans has made Poole his passion, releasing several 7-inches and a full-length record with the quartet. Poole’s spinART debut, Alaska Days, is sheer perfection, which makes sense considering it was re-recorded twice. It’s ironic, then, that in their live shows, Poole nails each song every time. Tonight they join Racecar for a special Christmas show. Perhaps Evans will join “the band formerly known as Paint” ’s Brian Gray for a duet of “All I Want for Christmas.” With Slow Children Playing at 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $5.
