While not all the music on Passions: Baroque and Renaissance Duets, the new album by classical guitarists Michael Newman and Laura Oltman, was composed during Shakespeare’s lifetime, it all makes me think of guys dancing around in superhero tights calling each other Tybalt and Mercutio. Humanism and classical rhetorical concepts of how language can evoke specific emotions informed even the instrumental musics of the Baroque and Renaissance periods, and the husband/wife duo are arbiters elegantiae of six-string duets. But I don’t understand why they felt compelled to mention in the liner notes that they have a horse named “Bunny.” At 12:30 p.m. at Borders, 18th & L St. NW. FREE. (202) 466-4999. (CP)
