Brooklyn dancehaller Shaggy’s second album, Boombastic, is enlivened by six guest vocalists, a variety of programmed riddims, and a number of effective samples, including Mungo Jerry’s “In the Summertime.” While the disc’s focus is on Kingston-born Shaggy’s low-pitched patois, producers Robert Livingstone and Sting Pizzonia deserve credit for accentuating the pop, hiphop, and old-school reggae accents that make Boombastic more than just another generic dancehall collection. At 8 p.m. at Howard University’s Cramton Auditorium, 6th & Fairmont Sts. NW. $20. (202) 806-7199. (Steve Kiviat)
