While Throwing Muses has never recaptured the overwhelming lyrical angst and jarring melodies of its debut album, the band continues to be an interesting therapeutic outlet for frontwoman Kristen Hersh. Despite many lineup changes, Throwing Muses’ distinct spiraling melodies, odd time signatures, and yelped vocals persevere, no doubt due to Hersh’s vision. Local group Air Miami celebrates the release of its debut album, Me Me Me, a bouncy collection of scrubbed-fresh, new-wave pop at 8:45 p.m. at the 9:30 Club, 930 F St. NW. $14. (202) 393-0930. (CP)
