AUGUST 26 & 27
Doesn’t the city’s longest commercial corridor deserve more than a single day of celebration? Of course it does, and so the inexactly named Georgia Avenue Day will actually span the entire weekend and include a parade, a carnival (with rides, we are assured), beauty queens, radio personalities, much food, and music. If the festivities make it all the way out to Georgia and the Beltway, stop by my house and say howdy. Parade begins Saturday at 10 a.m. at Georgia & Eastern Aves. NW. Emery Festival, Georgia Ave. & Madison St. NW; Banneker Festival, Georgia Ave. & Barry Pl. NW. 11 a.m.-9 p.m. FREE. (202) 723-5166. (Dave Nuttycombe)
