“It sums up the beauty of obscurity,” says one of the subjects of the film So Wrong They’re Right. He is referring to 8-track tapes. With friendly, folksy titles, and a suitably wobbly soundtrack, this lovely homage is surprisingly informative and genuinely funny. But don’t laugh too loud—a Sex Pistols cartridge recently went for $100. Conceptually consistent, directors Russ Forster (editor of the ‘zine 8-Track Mind) and Dan Sutherland covered a 10,000-mile loop of America in their quest to validate the discarded technology.
