Is this just? The current edition of the Health and Happiness Show features former members of Television (Richard Lloyd) and the Feelies (Vinny DeNunzio), but is led by a former Bongo—and not even the one who used to write the songs. Actually, the arrangement works out just fine. If not quite so catchy as the ones he wrote for the Hoboken country-rock band’s debut, James Mastro’s songs on the new Instant Living give power-pop an appealing country-rock twist. The quintet opens for—and then hangs around to back up—Butch Hancock at 8 p.m. at the Birchmere, 3901 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria. $12.50. (703) 549-5919. (MJ)
