Not all zydeco bands originate in Louisiana: Li’l Brian and the Zydeco Travelers are a product of the thriving but unappreciated Houston-area zydeco scene. Fusing R&B and hiphop vocal inflections and instrumental rhythms with the standard squeeze-box-and-rub-board approach, 21-year-old accordionist and vocalist Brian Terry and his band shine on both originals (“Live My Life”) and soulful covers (Lloyd Price’s “Trying to Slip Away”). Today’s dance workshop begins at 8 p.m., music at 9 p.m. at Glen Echo Park’s Spanish Ballroom, 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo. $12.; Sunday dance workshop at 5 p.m., music at 6 p.m. at Cherry Hill Park Clubhouse, 9800 Cherry Hill Rd., College Park. $10.
