JULY 22

Not just another record convention, the second annual Indie Rock Flea Market boasts entertainment by 12 indie-rock bands as well as recorded music and fanzines sold by collectors, specialty shops, and labels like Merge, Matador, Dischord, and Teenbeat. Serenading the shoppers with sounds ranging from My Bloody Valentine-influenced noise-pop to ’60s-inspired twee jangle, the market’s live sonic roster will provide plenty of piquant diversions, including Velocity Girl spinoff Heartworms and the overrated but appealing synth-pop of Stephin Merritt’s Magnetic Fields. From noon-8 p.m. at the old Sears parking lot, N. Fillmore & Clarendon Blvd., Arlington. FREE. (703) 528-8340. (Steve Kiviat)
