There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
Ordinarily, visitors to a farm expect moos and cock-a-doodle-doos. But didgeridoos? Sure, if it’s “Artfarm,” an annual event held at the Morgan Family Farm during Montgomery County’s “Farm Tour and Harvest Sale” (which includes 19 regional farms). While folks shop for organic produce and bask in the rural scenery, multimedia artists create odd and amiable diversions. This year, Tom Whittemore demonstrates the aboriginal Australian instrument, and violinist Anthony Hyatt improvises in Western and Eastern styles. For performance-art aficionados, dancer Marianne Ross (whose work is pictured) animates nature-oriented puppets; “new vaudevillian” Rod Kimball juggles and presumably does something entertaining; and Sonya Ross and Michelle Ross stroll around on stilts, accompanied by Sara Feuerstein “and her devil sticks.” It sounds just weird enough to be worth the drive to Hyattstown. From 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Morgan Family Farm, 25214 Peachtree Rd., Hyattstown. FREE. (301) 217-2345. (Nathalie op de Beeck)
