Seattle quartet Love Battery is in the uncomfortable position of having been signed to a major label in the post-grunge rush to find the next you-know-who. The band’s fourth album, Straight Freak Ticket, is a collection of laconic psychedelia, alternately floating and tearing through the well-mapped course tracked by fellow speed enthusiasts Swervedriver. Whether Love Battery will be the next big anything is dubious, but its driving rock provides momentary relief for road-weary souls. With Eve’s Plumb and Kevin Salem at 8 p.m. at the 9:30 Club, 930 F St. NW. $5. (202) 393-0930. (Christopher Porter)
