JUNE 29
Is there still juice in the pop-punk formula that Green Day took mainstream? Amazingly, yes, and Berkeley’s Lookout Records (GD’s former home) offers a dozen varieties, few astounding but most quite engaging. The Lookout Records Summer Tour provides three examples: Headlining are the Riverdales (pictured), a Chicago quartet that specializes in Ramonesy tunes and titles like “I Think About You During the Commercials.” Also featured are Boris the Sprinkler and the Mr. T Experience, who’ve been remaking the blitzkrieg bop (quite credibly) for a decade. At 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $7. (202) 667-7960. (Mark Jenkins)
