We value your support now more than ever.

All year we’ve been covering the issues that matter most to you—the pandemic, the election, policing, housing, and more—and now our end of year membership campaign is here. Will you support our work to ensure we can bring you the same informative local reporting in 2021?

Known in Jamaica for his looks and his unorthodox vocal inflections, Kingston dancehaller Spragga Benz follows three years of import-only singles with an American major-label debut, Uncommonly Smooth. Proffering more than just stereotypical high-speed patois-filled lasciviousness, the 26-year-old Benz toasts over a number of different riddims, duets with Coco Tea and Ben E. King, and puts a Jamaican twist on the Staple Singers’ “I’ll Take You There.” At 11 p.m. at the Legends Nightclub, 3225 Naylor Rd., Temple Hills. $20. (301) 894-3535. (Steve Kiviat)
