Billed as featuring “members” of GWAR, the X-Cops actually are GWAR, with instruments shuffled around and a drummer added. However, where the infamous splatter-core group’s tunes are frequently held hostage to its novelty element, the Cops mine a fiercer, faster, more satisfying vein of metal. Caveat: While the Cops aren’t as juicily theatrical as GWAR, the (fake) blood still flies, so leave that oh-so-cool jersey T at home.
