In And Say Hi to Joyce: America’s First Gay Column Comes Out, forWashington Postie Joyce Murdoch introduces herself by way of her partner, Deb Price. The latter gained notoriety in 1992, when the conservative Detroit News introduced her now-syndicated column on lesbian and gay life; the book’s title comes courtesy of Price’s supporters, who often end letters with “and say hi to Joyce.” Here, Murdoch presides over Price’s reprinted columns like a proud parent, and provides commentary on personal and professional issues she and Price have faced. If Say Hi is awfully heavy on the fond “we” pronoun, it’s certainly a model of unwavering spousal support. Murdoch and Price discuss their collaboration at 7 p.m. at Borders Books & Music, 18th & L Sts. NW. FREE. (202) 466-4999. (Nathalie op de Beeck)
