What do established hardcore punkers have to surrender when, in the wake of Green Day, they sign with major labels? Maybe their souls, but not their sounds. Especially not in the case of All, who were tuneful and ferocious years before the majors had any use for the combination; the quartet’s Interscope debut, aptly titled Pummel, is a self-produced blast that makes no audible compromises—including drummer/mastermind Bill Stevenson’s controversial dedication to proclaiming his “Hetero” status. With Toadies and Thrush Hermit at 9:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $6. (202) 667-7960. (MJ)
