Not only is Elastica the best hope of the new wave of new wavers, they’re also the most deserving of the recursive tag, having been forced to compensate both Wire and the Stranglers for inspiration provided. This pay-to-play arrangement has paid off big in Britain, though, and may yet here, as the London quartet undertakes its first tour in support of a full-length U.S. release.
