JUNE 1

When Julia Child was asked a couple of years ago if any of her cooking ever went seriously wrong, she replied that of course it did—that’s what her husband is for. The noted American French chef, and contender for world’s tallest octogenarian (female), will join French French chef Jacques Pepin in being toasted by Phyllis Richman at “Master Chefs Julia Child and Jacques Pepin: A Smithsonian Gala Celebration.” The luminaries will banter, reminisce, and share culinary insights at 6 p.m. at the Warner Theater, 513 13th St. NW. $25. For reservations call (202) 357-3030. (James Lochart)
