MAY 20 & 21
The 11th Annual Sheep Dog Trials will not involve the People vs. Fluffy, nor will Marcia Clark make an appearance. Instead, an international assortment of border collies will take turns herding groups of sheep like they were, well, sheep. At stake is the second leg in the Virginia Triple Crown and a cash prize. Not for the sheep or the pups, of course, but for the shepherds, who are expected to arrive from California, Kentucky, and Scotland. And you thought the only shepherd still around was Chuck. Speaking of weird, here’s an official warning: No dogs allowed during the trials. From 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. today and Sunday at the Oatlands Plantation, Rte. 15 off Rte. 7, Leesburg. $7. (703) 777-3174.
