There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.

MAY 19

More heaven-and-hell dreampop, Helium’s new The Dirt of Luck grounds the angelic vocals of Mary Timony (late of D.C.’s Autoclave) in blaring guitar and the agile rhythms of drummer Shawn Devlin (late of Boston’s Dumptruck) and bassist Ash Bowie. “Maybe I should just go to bed/Or try to pray or something instead,” sings Timony, which seems to cover this music’s available options. The Delta ’72 and Blonde Redhead open at 9:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $6. (202) 667-7960. (Mark Jenkins)
