The films of director Raymond Depardon are short on event, but long on milieu; they conjure their circumstances with exceptional force. His latest, Délits Flagants (Caught in the Act), portrays the circumscribed world of petty French criminals as they’re transferred from the police to prosecutors. The film, which the Hirshhorn says has “a stringent elegance,” screens today and tomorrow at 8 p.m. at the Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden’s Ring Auditorium, 8th & Independence Ave. SW. FREE.
