With cute frogs and dogs dominating beer commercials on the tube, AnimalFest was probably inevitable: a block party devoted to zoologically named beers and wines, such as Red Wolf, Wild Goose, Bass Ale, Rabbit Ridge, and Hawkcrest. Organized by the Wine Tasting Association, the festival includes food, live bands, and a contest to determine next year’s poster pet (bring a snapshot, leave Fido at home). From noon-6 p.m. today and tomorrow at Franklin Square, 14th & I Sts. NW. $7 (benefits the Washington Humane Society). (703) 764-2399. (Greg Kitsock)
