Originally a celebration of the defeat of Napoleon III’s troops by Mexican soldiers in 1862, Cinco de Mayo is now mostly an excuse to drink margaritas. Radio Mundo’s five-act Cinco de Mayo weekend concert should better capture the holiday’s rebellious spirit. Starring the modernized polka of top Mexican norteño and banda combo Bronco, the bill also features the International Sonora Show, Jhosse & El Grupo Lora, Rene Alonso y su Banda Laser, and Los Forasteros Del Norte. At 6 p.m. at the D.C. Armory, 1000 East Capitol St. SE. $35-45. (301) 589-4800. (Steve Kiviat)
