At the request of the Dalai Lama, Tibetan lama Khamtruel Rinpoche in 1993 set out from India to Mustang, a long-closed feudal kingdom between Tibet and Nepal that’s one of the few remaining strongholds of Tibetan Buddhism. A camera crew accompanied him, and the result is Mustang: The Hidden Kingdom, a glimpse of the ancient land, which has recently opened its borders after decades of isolation. The 90-minute 1994 video, narrated by Harrison Ford, shows in conjunction with the “Environmental Film Festival” at 7 p.m. today and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Freer Gallery’s Meyer Auditorium, 12th & Jefferson Dr. SW.
