IN WASHINGTON CITY Paper‘s “News of the Weird” column (4/21), an item called “Cultural Diversity” says that “some deaf parents rejoice in the news that their children have been born deaf because they see themselves not as handicapped but merely as a linguistic minority.”

Attention! Let me think….“Cultural Diversity”? And the article is considered “News of the Weird”? Well, man, you all are weird to me!

I’m a deaf person with a deaf family of five generations. When I was born deaf, they celebrated that they got a deaf child to carry for the next generation…and there are thousands of deaf children coming from hearing parents who wished the same thing because the “hearing” population doesn’t understand an iota about our “cultural diversity.”

If I must say something about your article, it’s not funny!
