Alvin Ailey’s choreography has an undeniable magnetism, drawing the observer into the emotions of the dancers onstage. Since rejoining the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater as artistic director in 1989, Judith Jamison has successfully sustained the company’s dynamism. This weekend, the troupe presents Ailey classics The River and Revelations along with more recent choreography by Elisa Monte, including the D.C. premiere of Mnemonic Verses.
