Aside from Shellac, of course, Touch and Go bands tend not to sound quite so Touch-and-Goish these days, and that includes Laughing Hyenas. Still, on its first platter in three years, Hard Times, the revamped Detroit quartet hasn’t exactly become a trad-blues outfit; Larissa Strickland’s guitar is a little less industrial and there’s an acoustic track, but singer John Brannon is still channeling Iggy and Nick Cave. New York slo-mo-rock foursome Rex (whose new album is on Jawbox’s DeSoto label) opens at 8:45 p.m. at the 9:30 Club, 930 F St. NW. $8. (202) 393-0930. (MJ)
