Vocalists Elba Ramalho (pictured) and Margareth Menezes both come from northeastern Brazil, but that doesn’t mean they approach their region’s multicultural pop in the same manner. Menezes, who once toured with David Byrne, applies her powerful yet soothing voice to visceral, percussion-driven samba-reggae, zouk, and funk. Ramalho, described by some as “the Brazilian Tina Turner,” mixes salsa, bossa nova, and samba into a glitzier but still danceable combination. At 8 & 11 p.m. at Kilimanjaro, 1724 California St. NW. $25. (202) 328-3838. (Steve Kiviat)
