According to the Washington Post‘s Benjamin Forgey, Arlington is “one of the hippest local jurisdictions” for “adventurous arts and artists.” Which probably explains why the Innovators Festival will not be held in Rockville this year. The three-week celebration of out-there arts kicks off with a live taping of Slumber Party, the cable-access TV classic where everyone chats nicely while wearing their jammies. Serenading the event is the 35-piece Akkordeon Orchestra Rheinland, probably 34 more accordions than are strictly necessary, but this is art, after all. The site is the Clarendon house deconstructed so precisely by ArtAttack. Bring your PJs, but leave the Count Chocula at home—there’s free cereal for all! At 11:30 a.m. at 3286 N. Fairfax Dr., Arlington. FREE. (202) 234-4433. (Dave Nuttycombe)
