Zoot suits are encouraged at the National Building Museum’s Victory Canteen Swing Dance. The Yale Band performs the music of Glenn Miller for the festivities, which include a re-enactment of a Glenn Miller Army-Air Force Band radio show in WWII uniform, screenings of period newsreels, and a showing of the cameo-saturated 1943 feature Stage Door Canteen. A brief swing dance lesson initiates those who can’t yet “kick the mule,” “peck,” “truck,” or “praise Allah” with the best of ’em. From 8 p.m.-midnight at the National Building Museum, 401 F St. NW. $35. For reservations call (202) 272-2448. (Chip Porter)
