If the National Geographic Society ever needs a soundtrack for a documentary on glaciers, they’d do well to call the Richmond, Va., trio LaBradford. Since the release of 1993’s Pracizion, the keyboard/guitar duo has added a bassist, placing its sound somewhere between the dark lounge ambience of Angelo Badalamenti and the relaxing menace of Main. LaBradford’s use of subtle structure shifts and intelligent lyrics make its sound nearly revolutionary compared to the spineless mood music currently clogging record stores. With The Technical Jed and Engine at 9:30 p.m. at the Republic Gardens, 1355 U St. NW. $5. (202) 232-2710. (CP)
