YOUR COVERAGE OF THE Meatout (“Meat Cleavers,” The District Line, 3/24) was very interesting. Does the slaughter of an animal to eat its flesh trouble you? Most sensitive people, particularly women, would be very disturbed to see an animal slaughtered. The murder of humans is not accepted, yet strangely, the murder of animals is OK with many people. It’s also interesting to ask why millions of Catholic monks, Buddhists, Jains, Seventh-Day Adventists, Mormons, and Hindus choose not to eat meat. Becoming a vegetarian is incredibly satisfying, both emotionally and spiritually.
