I WAS REALLY OFFENDED by the bigoted and arrogant tone of Matt Labash’s “Meat Cleavers” (The District Line, 3/24). I was tempted to write a letter educating Labash about the relationship between meat-eating and world hunger or about the cruelties inherent in the factory farming industry. But I decided that anyone with such a me-first/First World attitude simply wouldn’t be interested.

But consider this: Most beef is fattened up for market with a product called “recycled protein.” This “protein” is actually one part grain and two parts chicken manure. Eat a lot of beef, Mr. Labash? Maybe that’s why your prose is full of a lot more than just hot air.
