On Wednesday, March 22, D.C. Councilmember Jack Evans held a fundraiser for his newly created political action committee—Jack PAC. While he won’t say it publicly, the Ward 2 lawmaker is privately telling friends and allies he intends to challenge Marion Barry in the next mayoral election. Evans has grown disillusioned with Barry, especially after the mayor submitted his no-more-cuts budget to Congress. Invitees were asked to give up to $5,000, although D.C. has no PAC contribution limit. The chairman of the fundraiser is A. Scott Bolden, who was the legal adviser for former Mayor Sharon Pratt Kelly’s PAC.
