On “His Indie World,” from her self-titled EP, erstwhile street-corner busker and Berklee School of Music attendee Mary Lou Lord sings to an indie-rock guy who wants her to change her musical approach. “Just give me my Joni, my Nick, Neil, and Bob, you can keep your Tsunami, your Slant 6, and Smog.” Lord isn’t being totally autobiographical here; she records for Olympia’s Kill Rock Stars, where she recorded one of ’94’s best singles, “Some Jingle Jangle Morning,” backed by indie pals from Bikini Kill and Team Dresch. With Elliott Smith at 8:45 p.m. at the 9:30 Club, 930 F St. NW. $5. (202) 393-0930. (SK)
