While some “oldies” artists just go through the motions live, one-time Stax vocalist Johnnie Taylor still exhibits the showmanship and passionate, gritty vocals that led soul connoisseurs to believe that he’d ascend to Otis Redding’s throne. Though that never happened, Taylor continues to prove that he’s more than just the voice behind the 1976 novelty hit “Disco Lady.” With Clarence Carter, Marvin Sease, and Baby Washington at 7:30 p.m. at Constitution Hall, 18th & D Sts. NW. $22.50. (202) 628-4780. (Steve Kiviat)
