It’s a truism that dogs and their owners tend to look alike. But despite the fact that many people call me “Shep,” I consider myself an exception. If this principle applies to you, check out the Ninth Annual St. Patrick’s Day Fun Dog Show. It’s for regular-joe dogs, and features categories ranging from “Dog/Owner Lookalike” to “Dog With the Biggest Ears” to “Dog With the Best Irish Costume.” Hosted by the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, the event also includes an “Ask the Vet” table and an assemblage of adoptable dogs. Following the contest, dogs and owners are invited to lead Alexandria’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. It all begins at 10:15 a.m. at Market Square, 301 King St., Alexandria. FREE.
