Often compared to the B-52’s, Swing Out Sister, and Deee-Lite, Pizzicato Five is a Japanese trio that’s been delivering its idiosyncratic vision of ultrahip lounge music for nearly a decade. In English or Japanese, the coos of singer Maki Nomiya prompt visions of Nancy Sinatra, but the band’s ocean of influences includes everything from Burt Bacharach to James Brown to Sly Stone to the Turtles to bossa nova…to name a few. P5 performs with glo-worm at 10 p.m. at the 9:30 Club, 930 F St. NW. $9. (202) 393-0930. (Wyatt Closs)
