In Jamaica—and Jamaican communities around the world—many reggae records are not heard on the radio, but at dances where they’re spun in special mix versions by selectors and introduced and toasted over by DJs. Selectors and DJs, together with their booming bass equipment, are known in reggae parlance as “sound systems.” Stone Love, widely acknowledged as Jamaica’s favorite system, will be joined by Bounty Killer, G. Nice, and King Rope Inc. at 10 p.m. at the City Lights Warehouse, 1350 Okie St. NE. $20. (301) 220-5916. (SK)
