Jerry Jeff Walker used to have an aversion to playing D.C. His specific complaint was the Beltway. Come the revolution, he’d opine (back when people used the phrase “come the revolution”), all “they” had to do was plant a tank at each on-ramp; we’d be surrounded and that would be that. Thankfully, the big guns weren’t necessary and Mr. Walker now adds us to his tour schedule with fair regularity. But the tanks may yet be called out, so don’t miss this chance to bask in the warmth and humor of Walker’s deep, easy voice and friendly, straightforward “cowjazz” songs. Tonight and tomorrow at 8 p.m. at the Birchmere, 3901 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria. $25. (703) 549- 5919. (Dave Nuttycombe)
