Those of you who were teen-agers in the early ’80s may think that one-hit wonder Taco is the man who wrote “Puttin’ on the Ritz.” Shake off the new wave revival and revel in the achievements of the song’s true author at “An Irving Berlin Celebration.” Berlin, a songwriter of eternal staying power, wrote over 1,000 songs including classics like “White Christmas,” “Blue Skies,” and the song some claim as our true national anthem, “God Bless America.” Berlin’s daughter Mary Ellin Barrett, author of Irving Berlin: A Daughter’s Memoir, teams up with her daughter, singer Mary Ellin Lerner, and National Public Radio’s Ted Libbey for a book signing, musical perform ance, and discussion. At 7 p.m. at Borders Books & Music, 1801 K St. NW. FREE. (202) 466-4999. (CP)
