Much of what passes for political humor these days is just bad-attitude abuse hurled at whoever happens to be in power. This is not to suggest that our cherished leaders don’t deserve it, or that they aren’t just as adept at mean-spirited muck-tossing (the term “bitch” comes to mind). In this climate, political humorist Mark Russell seems both a quaintly polite throwback and a blessed relief. Russell generates laughs without that bitter aftertaste. But make no mistake: His genially delivered jibes and hokey piano riffs can often skewer a pompous windbag just as surely as a Rhino-Ammo bullet. Russell’s “Get Over It” show plays at 8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow and at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Ford’s Theater, 511 10th St. NW. $27-32. (202) 347-4833. (Dave Nuttycombe)
