The irony of Michael Winslow‘s career is that he is perhaps best known for the “Police Academy” films, where whatever impact his odd gift for mouth-sound mimicry might have is tempered by the fact that it could just as well be routine movie trickery. But Winslow’s“vocalvision,” as he terms it, is the real deal, and truly striking. In person, his version of Hendrix’s version of the “Star Spangled Banner” is so shockingly authentic that you’ll be looking to find the hidden Marshall amp. At 8:30 & 10:30 p.m. tonight and at 7, 9, & 11 p.m. tomorrow at the Comedy Cafe, 1520 K St. NW. $15. (202) 638-5653. (Dave Nuttycombe)
