David Foster starred in a ’70s gang film, Cruising High (originally titled Cat Merkel and the Silks), a 1980 NBC movie of the week, The Great Cash Give-Away Getaway, with George Hamilton, the first of the “Halloween” movies, and countless TV commercials. But it wasn’t this role-playing that got Foster down, it was his “double life” as a male prostitute in Hollywood’s underground gay subculture. Now billing himself as a “former actor and homosexual,” Foster gives his personal testimony at “Healing for the Homosexual,” a Feb. 4 conference sponsored by the D.C.-based Transformation Ex-gay Ministries (TEM). TEM is affiliated with Exodus International, an interdenominational Christian ministry for “homosexuals who are unhappy being gay and choose to seek Reparative Therapy (changing sexual preference),” according to a press release. The D.C. group has ministered to 500 “ex-homosexuals” during its six-year existence, says TEM Executive Director Anthony Falzarano, a self-described “former gay” who was “healed of his disorientation” seven years ago. Other speakers include Dr. Judith Reisman, author of Kinsey, Sex, and Fraud, and Marjorie Hopper, who will discuss her life as a “pre-op transsexual” man and the “root causes of lesbianism.” The seminar costs $39; call (202) 371-0800.
