Sixty-year-old pianist Mose Allison has performed as a sideman with Willie Dixon, Willie Nelson, and Stan Getz, but it’s his singing and playing as a frontman that’s made him a perennial favorite on the club circuit. Mixing improvisational runs and funky swinging rhythms with laid-back, cool-cat vocals and topical lyrics, the Mississippi native’s finger-snapping sound has inspired jazz fans, blues followers, and cocktail lounge denizens alike. At 8 & 10 p.m. tonight through Sunday at Blues Alley, 1073 Rear Wisconsin Ave. NW. $16. (202) 337-4141. (Steve Kiviat)
