Baltimorean Ivan Cuesta hasn’t lost touch with his Colombian roots—they’re at his fingertips, driving the accordion-based working-class vallenato dance music of the Andes, while his band, the Baltimore Vallenatos, races to keep up. Tonight at Carter Barron, they’ll likely outpace headliners Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, an ultra-traditional Mexican ensemble that is now in its 95th year, and sounds like it. At 8 p.m. at Carter Barron Amphitheater, 4850 Colorado Ave. NW. $6-14. (202) 619-7222. (Patrick Symmes)
