Jeffrey Pierce knows where his bread is buttered. Pierce, owner of Arlington’s Pierce Recording and Rehearsal, recently threw a party to say thanks to the local bands who’ve helped him stay afloat for the past three years. Pierce acknowledges that the cream of the area’s rock crop tends to choose other recording services/rehearsal spaces. But less-successful groups need those facilities too, and more than 600 mostly hapless and deservedly obscure combos have plugged in at Pierce thus far. Pierce’s present and former patrons were invited to a third anniversary bash at Toscanini’s in Fairfax, meaning that anonymities like My Penis, the Go Go Dogs, Hatred, Tequila Mockingbird, Roxygen, and Rekkta (reportedly a metallicized pluralization of “rectum”), all August bookees at Pierce, were welcome.
