I ATTENDED WARD 2 COUNcilmember Jack Evans’ Sept. 18 kickoff meeting for his Working Group on Downtown Issues and believe that “Jumping Jack Flash” (“Streetscape,” 9/24) unfairly represented both the intent of the meeting and its substance. I was impressed with the intent—Evans wanted our help to achieve a “Living Downtown.” His staff ably educated all of us about the complex issues involved, the recent history, and the opportunities.
I think it was a great start toward energizing a wider group to help Jack achieve our mutually shared goal. I applaud Jack, and I think Washington City Paper should also.
