Originating from the country-smoked punkabilly scene of early-’80s LA, Gun Club blends blues, rock, and country like a well-made martini. When front man Jeffrey Lee Pierce traded his position as Blondie fan-club secretary for a guitar, the band—along with X and the Blasters—made that combination palatable and influential (just listen to the latest Social Distortion). Also appearing are three more LA refugees, Agent Orange, with their skate-surf beat; Spongehead opens at 8:15 p.m. at the 9:30 Club, 930 F St. NW. $12. (202) 393-0930. (Beef Jerky)
